Jesse E. McKay, 82, of West Columbia, SC, died on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Born in Columbia, on August 1, 1939, he was a son of the late William English McKay and Lula Mae Nelson McKay.

A member of Pilgrim Way Church, he was known as "Sonny" to his family, who also knew him as a wonderful dad, step-dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Mr. McKay was a hard worker, admired by many of his peers, as he was employed with Keenan Energy Companyl for 42 years, before joining the CarQwest team as a driver for 10 years, then Advance Auto Parts for a year and a half before retiring.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra J. McKay; children, Ray Tilden Mayo (Rhonda), Vickie Lynn Woody (Randy), Sheila Ann McKay (Wayne), and Lisa Jean Kelly (Claude); 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Richard McKay and Richard Mayo; and an infant brother.

A memorial service for Mr. McKay will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Pilgrim Way Baptist Church with Rev. Beverly Simons officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock.
