Jewell J. Byrd, 84, of Blythewood, S.C. passed away on August 7, 2024. Born in Florence, SC on November 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late David LaHan and Mildred Forbes Johnston. The family moved to Blythewood in the spring of 1947 where she attended and graduated from Blythewood School in 1958. She worked as a seamstress at Stone Manufacturing Co. until the birth of her son, Dalton L. Byrd, Jr. (Verne) when she became a housewife and stay at home mom. She was a confirmed member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church and participated in all activities of the Church. She later became a school bus driver for RCSD2 until retiring in 1997, after the death of her loving husband of 38 years, Dalton Laverne Byrd Sr.

She is survived by her two children, Dalton Laverne Byrd Jr, and Stacey Lynne Byrd; grandchildren, Brandon Byrd, Zachery Gonzalez, and Abigail Standiford; her sister, Patricia J. Bellinger; nephew Timothy (Jennifer) Ross, niece Leisha R. Hinnant; great-nephews Patrick Ross, Vic Ross and Liam Hinnant.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1729 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, SC 29016 with Reverend Ralph Stillwell officiating.
