Jimmie Sue Bland Garrett, 85, of Columbia, died Thursday, May 11, 2017. Born November 24, 1931 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Tobias Bland and Mary Rogers Bland. Jimmie Sue was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was devoted to her family. She was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Amelia Brazell (Jim Miller), Anne Shirley, Mary Garrett; a son, Harold Garrett; nine grandchildren, Kennedy, Serene, Christopher, Matthew, Patra, Michael, Samantha, Amelia, and Alana; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sybil Kosick (Dave). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Harold Garrett; a daughter, Claudia Garrett Tarter; and a son, Bryan Eugene Garrett; and four sisters.

A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Tuesday, May 16th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Steven Bouknight officiating. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Monday evening at the funeral home.
