Jimmy Hubert Bass, 69, of Columbia, died Thursday, February 21, 2013. Born in Raleigh, NC on July 9, 1943, he was a son of the late Hubert Bass and Rose F. Bass Hoyle, and step-son of the late Clarence W. Hoyle.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Bass of Columbia; son, Jimmy Franklin Bass (La-Rue) of Columbia; daughter, Debbie Bass Byers and her fiancé, Leland Knox, of Irmo; sister, Cathy Hoyle of Columbia; grandchildren, Kimberly Joyce Byers, Brody Edward Byers and Tyler Lee Bass; and his loving companion, best friend, and pet, Trixie. Jimmy will be missed dearly; may he rest in peace.

The funeral service for Mr. Bass will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, February 24th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with The Rev. Jeff Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock.
