JoAnn Harkins Cox, 82, of Columbia, died Saturday, September 10, 2016. Born in Greenville, SC on September 10, 1934, she was a daughter of the late William Roy Harkins and Helen Ashmore Harkins. She attended Tremont Church of God, Greenville, prior to moving to Columbia.

Mrs. Cox was married 48 years to the late Frank Cox and she was an angel; perfect, fun-loving and full of laughter. Mrs. Cox was loved by her family and was a very caring person.
Survivors include a son, Tom Cox (Anita) and daughter, Kathy Rose, both of Columbia; grandson, Jamie Miller of Columbia; brother, Don Harkins (Janice) of Easley; sister, Janice Hatley (Joe) of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Vanadore, and a brother, Virgil Harkins.

A funeral service will be held 1 o'clock, Monday, September 12th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenhom Road Ext., with Bishop Eddie Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock.
