John "Jock" Schroder Hutchinson, 79, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2018. He passed away peacefully at his residence in the Babcock Center. Born on October 14, 1938, he was a son of the late Dr. Manly Eskew and Hildegarde Schroder Hutchinson.

Jock had a known presence at First Presbyterian Church, where he was a lifelong member. He was always a familiar face when the doors opened until his health prevented him from attending. Jock was also a member of the PAD club.

He is survived by his brother, Dr. Manly Hutchinson, Jr (Anne); three nephews, Dr. Manly Hutchinson, III (Cami), Dr. Chris Hutchinson (Kyllan), and David Hutchinson; as well as five great nephews, Christopher, Heath, James, Pierce and Andrew, all of Columbia.

The funeral service for Mr. Hutchinson will be held 3 o'clock, Thursday, September 27th, at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia. Burial will follow in the Churchyard after which the family will greet friends in Jackson Hall. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Babcock Center and especially for the caregivers at Arrowood for the kind care of Jock.
