Joe B. Norris, 85, of Columbia, died Thursday, July 21, 2016. Born January 28, 1931, in Erwin, NC, he was a son of the late Colin and Mary Burns Norris.

Joe was a US Army veteran with 24 years of service having served during the Korean Conflict and awarded the purple heart and bronze star. He was also a maintenance mechanic at Shakespeare for more than 20 years. Mr. Norris loved traveling, gardening and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Michael Lynn Norris (Jean), Joey Lynwood, Sharon McAnally, Joanna Ellis (Randy), Timothy John Norris (Ami), Kevin Mark Norris and Jeffrey Daniel Norris (Julie); 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Tommy, Danny and Mac Ray Norris. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Estherlene Weaver Norris; son, Keith Wayne Norris; three sisters and one brother.

The service for Joe B. Norris will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, July 24th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., with the Rev. Chuck Everett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
