Joe "Joey" William Rabon, 62, of Columbia, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Born on June 19, 1956, in Glendale, CA, he was the son of the late John William Rabon and the late Joyce Lorraine LeNoue Rabon. Joey graduated from Columbia High School and attended the University of South Carolina for one year. He transferred to the University of South Dakota where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Joey first taught school at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and then in Denver, CO. He was employed for the Sioux Falls Public School System and much of his career was spent teaching at Axtell Park Middle School in Sioux Falls, SD. Joey loved studying history and enjoyed researching his family's genealogy.

Survivors include his daughter, Mattie Marie Rabon of Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Katherine (Kathy) Marie Riedel (Gary) of Portales, NM; nieces, Olivia West and Gina Riedel; nephew, Daniel Boan; aunt, Linda LeNoue Easley of Ashland, MO;special great aunt, Frances Gregory of Columbia; as well as numerous other extended family and friends.

The graveside service for Joey will be held 2 o'clock, Friday, August 31st, at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Creek Rd., Columbia. A reception will follow beginning at 3 o'clock at Upper Richland Community Center, 280 Camp Ground Road, Columbia, SC.
