Mr. Joel Dupre Pate, 82, of Columbia, died Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born on March 15, 1933 in Winnsboro, SC, he was a son of the late Dudley E. Pate and Ava Lee Rish Pate. A veteran of the US Air Force, Joel served the nation as a flight instructor . He was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textiles, and worked for many years as a factory manager with Burlington Industries. Joel was a longtime member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, and he will be deeply missed by his loving family and dear friends.

Joel is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia Blakely Pate; step-sons, John Davis (Dian) and Michael Davis (Jeanette); step-grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlin, Joey and Lauren Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Milton E. Pate.

The service for Mr. Pate will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, October 10th, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, with The Rev. Dr. Ellen Skidmore officiating.
