Obituary
John B. Metts, 86, of Blythewood, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on January 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Ben and Alma Metts. He was a longtime member of the Blythewood Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Metts attended Eau Clair High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He worked in the environmental cleaning industry and retired with Sigma Solution. Throughout his career, Mr. Metts worked for Bryson Industrial, Frenz Enterprises, and Divex, Inc. He loved reading, especially about the Civil War.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia F. Metts; children, Denise Stephens (Jim), Carrie Whitlock (Brent), Sarah Jean Metts, and Jessica Lenora Metts; daughter-in-law, Jane Y. Metts; sister, Kay Kelly; as well as his fur babies, Roscoe P. Coltrane and Bailey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Michael Metts.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Metts will be held privately. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
