Obituary
Mr. John Joseph Carey, Jr., 91, of Elgin, SC, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born to the late Agnes Bridget Carey and the late John J. Carey. Sr. on October 18, 1932, in Syracuse, NY.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He served honorably in the United States Airforce. Following his service, he worked as an air traffic controller for the FAA for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Frances Carey; children, Jeffrey Carey (Linda), Linda Liebau (Rick), Sandra Carey (Matt), James Carey, Sheila Young (Mike), and Joanne Carey; grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea, Annie, Shana, Matthew, Ryan, Jacob, Christopher, and John Alex; great-grandchildren, Avaline, Ayden, Addison, Ana, Isabella, Hank, Mack, Greyson, Hadley, and Trace; and sisters, Patricia Davis, Eileen Arns, and Kathleen Conrad.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Carey.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family and will announce further plans.
