John Bradley Hentschel, 66, of Columbia, died on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Born in Queens, NY, on March 28, 1957, he was the oldest son of the late John Michael Hentschel and Lillian Virginia Van Volkenburgh.

Mr. Hentschel was a member of NorthStar Christian Center and served in the United States Air Force from 1978-82. He attended Clemson University from 1975-77 and graduated from Strayer University in 2008 holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. His career was spent with Westinghouse Electric Company in nuclear fuel manufacturing. He began his 33 year career in manufacturing, and ended his career as the Information Technology Site Manager.

Mr. Hentschel was an active member of the American Association of Woodturners for many years and in retirement, he founded his own company, Hentschel Handyman. He enjoyed his handyman work, woodturning projects, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Ann Hogan Hentschel; children, Simon "Paul" (Denise) Hentschel of Greenville, SC; Stacey (Shawn) Cuddhy, of Atlanta, GA; Erin (Seth) Coale, of Woodstock, GA, and Michael Hentschel, of Boulder, CO; granddaughters, Mara and Gwen Cuddhy; sister, Bonnie Smith; sister, Pamela Schook; and brother, David Hentschel.

The service for Mr. Hentschel will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 12, 2023 at NorthStar Christian Center, 711 Longtown Rd, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Church beginning at 12:30 pm and ending at 1:15 pm. A private burial for the family will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
