John "Jack" R. Doverspike, 87, of Columbia, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Born in Sumter, SC, he was a son of the late Frederick "Fred" Leroy and Jennie Delle Brickle Doverspike Lucas. He was married to Jean Timmons Doverspike and preceded in death by his first wife, Bertie Ardis Doverspike. Jack was the President of Rosewood East Furniture Store and a faithful member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Known by friends and family as "Uncle Jack," he was a generous and outgoing person, who enjoyed telling stories and spending time with those he loved.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Laura Rollinson (John), Barbara Coker, Kellie Wilson (Danny); grandchildren, Lisa Best, Laurie Trotter, Russell Watson, John Post, Brooke Wilson; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Michael, Jimmy and sister, Betty.

The service will be held 2:30 o'clock, Sunday, January 27th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, with the burial to follow in Serenity Gardens at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Saturday, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
