John Marshall Sturgess III, 55, of Cayce, died Sunday, December 21, 2014. Born in Savannah, GA, on March 24, 1959, he was a son of John Marshall Sturgess, Jr. and the late Gail Patricia Barbour Sturgess. Marshall was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Congaree Ward.
Survivors include his father; son, John Marshall Sturgess, IV; grandchildren, Azlyn, Liberty, Izabella, Gabriella, Alexander and Cayden; brothers, Michael, Monty, Mark, and Jesse Sturgess; and sisters, Debra Lewis, Amy Orselli, Wendy McLaughlin, Heather Walter, and Laurie Prows.
The funeral service for Mr. Sturgess will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, December 27th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Congaree Ward, 1330 Whippoorwill Dr, West Columbia, with Bishop Rocco Del Priore, Sr. presiding. Jesse Sturgess, William Prows, John Sturgess IV, Mark, Mike and Monty Sturgess, Kenneth Walter, Joe Robinson, David Robinson, Gary Hall, Steven Robinson, Caz Sturgess and Brian Bass are invited to serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Friday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
