John Robert H. Taylor, 75, of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Born January 12, 1938 in Newberry, SC, he was a son of the late Noah Franklin Taylor and Julia Marie Free Taylor. Robert attended St. Peter Lutheran Church of Chapin. Around the age of 20 he moved to Atlanta, to begin his career as a hairstylist at Davison's/Macy's of Atlanta for around 45 years until the closing of the Salon.
Surviving are his brother, Frank M. Taylor Sr. and wife, Ladon of Laurens, SC; brother-in-law, George Wise; nephew, John Wesley Wise of Columbia; and nieces, Libby Taylor, Jane Cox of Inman and Susan Griswell of Laurens. In addition to Robert's parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Taylor Wise and also nephew Frank "Buster" Taylor Jr.
Robert said styling hair for the ladies of Atlanta area was his passion. For a soaring-modest man he had the biggest heart of any giant among this natural world. To everyone that crossed his path, he was their St. Nicholas.
Robert will be imbedded in all of our memories forever and will be missed greatly.
The funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday, July 7th at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Cecil Bayne will be officiating. Interment will follow at Northeast Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 192 Sloan Road, Columbia.
