Mrs. Johnnie Marie Faver, 59, of Hopkins, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, after a 15 month battle with cancer. Born in Columbia on June 18, 1956, she was a daughter of the late John Russell and Van Marie Hatcher Wadford. Johnnie grew up in Hartsville and in the Olympia Neighborhood of Columbia. She was loving and creative, always sharing freely of her talents with others, and she greatly enjoyed caring for animals, especially her cats and dogs. Johnnie was a gifted singer, and she always appreciated good music. She was a woman of deep faith, a proud member of the Waccamaw Indian Tribe, and she had a great love for the beach. Johnnie treasured her tribal heritage, and it pleased her greatly to pass her traditions along to her dear family and friends.
Johnnie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Alan Faver; daughters, LaShawn Swindler, Monica Faver, and Chasity Marie Faver; three grandsons; and two granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Lee Wadford.
A funeral service for Mrs. Faver will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, March 16th, at Pilgrims Way Baptist Church, 6801 Old Leesburg Road, Hopkins, with Pastor Dave Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 until 8 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia. Memorials may be made to a no-kill animal shelter, or other charity of one's choice.
