W. Jonathan Campagna

Lexington: Walter Jonathan Campagna, 42, of Lexington, died Thursday, May 31, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Francis Gerald "Jerry" Campagna and Elaine Golden Cato. At the time of his passing, Jon worked for Richland County as a computer programmer. He had previously been the executive chef at Mr. Friendly's and Solstice Kitchen and Wine Bar. Jon had also worked as sous chef at Saluda's. He received a marketing degree from Savannah Technical College and was scheduled to graduate with a degree in computer programming from Midlands Technical College, after which he would have attended USC in the fall.

Survivors include his father, Francis Gerald "Jerry" Campagna of Columbia; mother, Elaine Golden Cato of Lexington; brothers, Joe (and Teresa) Campagna of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Campagna of Augusta, GA; sister, Kim Campagna of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Laurel and Thomas Campagna of Mt. Pleasant, Haley Clemons of Columbia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter William and Ferole Colleen Gissendanner Golden; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Sadie Campagna; and his step-father, Haskell William Cato.

The funeral service for Jon will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, June 4, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the USC Educational Foundation, 107 Osborne Administration Building, Columbia, SC 29208.
