Jon Monroe, a beloved brother and friend, passed away on March 30, 2023, at the age of 66. Born on November 10, 1956, Jon was known for his fun-loving nature, his infectious humor, and his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones.
Growing up in South Carolina, Jon had a passion for wrestling and became the 126 lb South Carolina State Wrestling Champion at Lower Richland High. Throughout his life, he remained an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on his favorite teams and athletes.
Jon's love of adventure took him on many trips to JayBirds Fishcamp in Canada, as well as visits to Ohio and Michigan, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a regular attendee of local Columbia SC family gatherings, and his presence was always cherished by those around him.
Despite his many interests, Jon's greatest joy came from helping others. He was always there for his friends and family, ready with a listening ear and a helping hand. His kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Carol Monroe, and is survived by his siblings, Thomas K Monroe (Christine) , Patricia Ann Bartucca, Jeffrey S Monroe (Joyce), Fredrick E Monroe (Debbie), Rebecca L Marshall (Jim), and Blair H Monroe(Tammy); and many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lieber Institute for Brain Development in honor of Jon.
