Jonathan David Hancock, 45, of Columbia, died Sunday, February 7, 2016. Jon was born on May 20, 1970, in Sumter, SC, to The Rev. Hughey Laverne Hancock and Barbara Brigman Hancock. He worked as a welder, most recently for Westinghouse Electric. Jon was known for his great sense of humor, and he loved being a part of the Sunday and Tuesday evening groups at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Christopher Orion Hancock; daughter, Barbara Elaine Hancock; sisters, Juliana Hancock, December Rose Wannamaker (Leland), Lisa Leigh Hardway (Dan); and brother, Hughey Laverne Hancock, Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Hancock will be held at two o'clock, Friday, February 12th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Exn., Columbia.
