Mr. Jose Raul Rodriguez, 69, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, He was the son of the late Jose Rodriguez and Francisca Rodriguez. He was a veteran of the United States Army who managed his final days with strength and grace, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Jose shared his joy for life and music with everyone he met. He was a spontaneous and charismatic person who was at his happiest when he was with family and friends. He was someone who cared and taught everyone to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing his guitar, and being a trusting guide for his nieces and nephews.

As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Army where he became a communications specialist. This experience allowed him to further his passion in the music industry as a Sound Engineer/DJ in the buzzing Washington, DC area. While in DC he successfully worked for the Governor of Puerto Rico before moving on to hold positions with the University of South Carolina and Wells Fargo.

Jose is survived by his daughter, Zasha Tenhaken (Robert); his sisters, Carmen Driggers (John), Luz Arpan, and Yolanda Rodriguez; his brother, Dr. Edwin Rodriguez (Kathy); and his granddaughter, Vivien Tenhaken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, August 22, 2022, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
