Joseph L. "Joe" Burriss, II, 50, of Columbia, died Saturday, March 30, 2013. Born in New Orleans, LA on April 29, 1962, he was the son of The Rev. Dr. Walter Mack Burriss and Carolyn Thrasher Burriss. A graduate of Clemson University, Class of 1987, Joe also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was employed as a millwright, and was a member of Jackson Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Anne Wiseman Burriss; his parents; sisters, Melissa Argo and Priscilla McCormick (Ryan); brother, Walter Mack Burriss, Jr. (Dawn); nephews, Nicholas Argo (Brett) and Matthew McCormick; nieces, Caroline Argo and Kaitlyn McCormick; great niece, Emily Argo; and great nephew, A.J. Argo.

The funeral service for Mr. Burriss will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, April 4th, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. Walter Mack Burriss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
