Joseph Troy "Joe" Garris, Sr, 67, of Lexington, died Saturday, July 22, 2017. Born February 1, 1950, in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Julius Parker Garris, Sr. and Beaulah McCormick Garris.
Mr. Garris was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #152, as well as the Sons of the Confederacy. Mr. Garris worked at Lexington High School in maintenance. An avid Clemson fan, he retired from Clemson University as Director of Buildings and Grounds. Mr. Garris was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Linda Goldman Garris; children, Joseph Troy Garris, Jr. (Letha), Ashley Garris (Mark Nelson), Julia Kimberly Lindler (Johnny), Loyde Benjamin Garris (Donna), and Lynda Adele Stoll (George); 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Julius P. Garris, Jr. and Johnny M. Garris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Garris will be held 2 o'clock, Wednesday, July 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home.
