Joseph Alton Glenn, Sr., 82, of Winnsboro, formerly of Columbia, died on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Born in Jenkinsville, SC, on March 22, 1941, he was a son of the late William Arthur Glenn, Sr. and Letisha Caroline Stack Glenn.

Mr. Glenn began his career with South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCE&G) at the age of 20 and devoted 35 years until his retirement at age 55. He was a Mason and enjoyed hunting, playing tennis, jogging and spending time at Pine Island Club. Mr. Glenn was especially fond of his Quail Valley Neighbors and never missed an opportunity for Clemson Football or NASCAR Racing.

Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Glenn Mancil (Jeff); son, Joseph Alton Glenn, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Shelby Goodwin, Hunner Mancil and Luke Floyd; his sister, Anne Nelson (Cliff); brother, David Glenn (Catherine); two nephews; one niece; and the mother of his children, Doris Yarborough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Arthur Glenn, Jr; and wife, Diana Glenn.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the teams at Agape Hospice and South Carolina House Calls for their support and care in recent weeks and years.

The funeral service for Mr. Glenn will be held at 1 o'clock, Saturday, October 21st at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC, with Chaplain Robert Martin officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 11 o'clock. Burial in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery will be private.
