Joseph Quinton Hudson, III, 83, of Elgin, South Carolina, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Born on December 19, 1941, at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Joseph Quinton Hudson, Jr. and Mary Eugenia Rabon Hudson.
Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed by the South Carolina Forestry Commission for 30 years. He also was the manager and operator of Monroe Poultry Farm, as well as a hay and forage production of Hudson Farms in Elgin, SC. Joe loved being outdoors, spending time with family, and enjoyed his morning breakfast at Waffle House with his close friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Warren Hudson; children, Joseph Warren Hudson (Rebecca Lee) of Columbia and Melony Hudson Hallbick (Joseph Scott) of Little Mountain, SC; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Hudson of Columbia, Eden Delores Jones (Deonte Lajuan) of Columbia, and Joel Scott Miller, Jr. of Columbia; siblings, Robert Hudson (Linda), John Hudson (Debra), Francis Hudson (Mary), and Judy Hudson Motley (Bubba). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Hudson Berger.
The memorial service for Joe will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, September 3rd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
A reception will be held following the service at 1308 Kelly Town Road Lugoff, SC 29078.
