Joseph W. Steele, 85, of Columbia, died Friday, May 17, 2019. Born September 22, 1933 in Holden, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Parry Boyd Steele and Ivory Nichols Steele. Mr. Steele honorably served his country in the US Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Southern Bell/AT&T for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rebecca Steele; his daughter, Wilma Cupstid; granddaughter, Rebecca Cupstid; and his sisters, Wilma, Ama Ree, and Joyce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Perry Steele.

Services for Mr. Steele will be private.
