Josephine Ross Allen, 93, of Columbia, died Saturday, January 27, 2018. Born in Sandusky, OH, on February 5, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Anthony and Josephine Sampano Ross. Josephine retired from the City of Columbia Municipal Court. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Mt. Carmelite Guild. A devoted Catholic, she was always in prayer to our beloved Mother, Virgin Mary.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Frierson (Larry), of Columbia; two sons, Pat Allen (Cindy), of Stafford, VA, and Gary Allen (Drucie), of Silver Springs, MD; a sister, Ann Royal, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Lauren and Will Frierson, David Farrell, Claire Wire, and Jessica Allen; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Max Wire. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Allen; and a daughter, Brenda Farrell.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Allen will be held 11 o'clock, Tuesday, January 30th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Final commendation and farewell prayers will be said following the service, at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited Monday evening at 5 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, followed by a visitation until 7 o'clock.
