Obituary

Mrs. Josephine "Jo" Cook Kelly, 71, of Elgin, widow of the late Jason Leon Kelly, died Saturday, May 18, 2013. Born on September 8, 1941, in Kershaw County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Talley Ray Cook and Dennie Eldora Small Cook. Mrs. Kelly had a long and wonderful history of serving children and their families through providing care and by preparing food in both public schools and in pre-school. She was an active and involved member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship with her Sunday School class, and where she could often be found serving in the kitchen.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by her children, Jesse Ray Boozer of West Columbia, Darren Lee Boozer, and Joseph Randall Boozer, both of Camden, Kimberly Boozer Macheel (Gary), of Lugoff, William David Boozer (Bernice) of Elgin, Arlene Kelly Watts (Tommy) of Elgin, and Sarah Murrill of Camden; grandchildren, Sara Barrett, Kimber Barrett, George (Megan) Barrett, and Adam Watts (Mara), all of Lugoff, Catherine Boozer, Austin Boozer, Carleigh Watton, and Amber Watts (Matt) all of Elgin, Jesse Boozer, and Nicole Boozer, both of Columbia, Jessica Boozer of Camden, and Timothy Watts (Brandi) of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Bryson Johnson, Keegan Dowey, Easton Dowey, and Colin Barrett, all of Lugoff, Parker Watts, and Rylee Watts, both of Charleston; and brother, John Cook of Laurens. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Matthew and William Boozer.

A graveside service for Mrs. Kelly will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, May 21nd, at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin, SC, with The Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin officiating. The family will greet friends Monday, May 20th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC, from 5 until 7 o'clock.
