Josephine Long Starnes, age 87, of Snellville, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, July 19, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jay McClellan; her grandson Ian McClellan of Columbia, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Amanda Starnes, of Atlanta; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Joe Starnes; parents, Cecil and Bunnie Long.

Josephine was born in Little Mountain, SC. She retired with nearly 20 years of service from C&S Bank in Columbia. A member of the Snellville First Baptist Church, she was in the Phebean Sunday School Class and also a member of the Senior Choir.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Josephine will be held on July 24, at Snellville First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the service. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery, Little Mountain, SC with The Rev. John Stoudemayer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Snellville First Baptist Church. Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville Chapel is assisting the family in Snellville. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family locally.
