Joyce Elizabeth Branham Hornsby, 72, of Columbia, died Thursday, March 18, 2021. Born April 14, 1948 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Frank Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Carmen Branham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christian Neil Hornsby and an infant sister, Marilyn Branham.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hornsby was employed for over three decades with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Her family was the center of her life and she cherished every moment spent with them. Mrs. Hornsby enjoyed getting manicures and having her occasional "Girls Day Out". She loved long telephone calls with her sister and water aerobics at the YMCA. Mrs. Hornsby collected Gone With the Wind memorabilia and took great pleasure in antique shopping.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Hornsby; children, Christopher Eugene Hornsby (Cindy) of Lexington and April Elizabeth Hornsby-Hinnant (Rhett) of Lexington; grandchildren, Corrie Hornsby and Kaylah Bailey (Garrett); great grandchildren, Lydia Emerson Bailey and Ian Brooks Bailey; brothers, F.L. Branham (Linda) and Mike Branham (Linda) sisters, Carolyn Carnaggio (Joe) and Teresa Branham; her four-legged companion, Isabell, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hornsby will be held 2 o'clock Tuesday, March 23rd at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Reverend Mark Bredholt officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia, 9301 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC.
