Joyce Loretta Brazell

Joyce Loretta Brazell, 81, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willis Fleming Brazell and Eva Ruth Brazell.

Joyce was a graduate of Dentsville High School and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, working as a secretary and in the food service equipment supply industry. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and the relationships she developed along the way.

Joyce found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially spending time at Edisto Beach, a place she loved visiting. An enthusiastic University of South Carolina Gamecocks fan, she particularly enjoyed cheering on the Lady Gamecocks basketball team. Whether enjoying a trip to the coast, watching a basketball game, or spending time with those she loved, Joyce appreciated the moments and memories that made life special.

Survivors include her two brothers, Earl Brazell (Mattie) of Lugoff and Mike Brazell (Pam) of Elgin; three nephews, Wade Brazell (Karen), Phillip Brazell (Beth), and Christopher Brazell; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amy Watson for being a dear, life-long friend who was there by Joyce’s side until the end.

The memorial service for Ms. Joyce Brazell will be held at 12 o’clock noon, Monday, October 19, 2026, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, with Evangelist Earl Brazell officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o’clock until 12 o’clock at the funeral home.
