Joyce Virginia Aspinwall Jacobs, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Born December 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Reppard and Myrtle Aspinwall of Blackshear, Georgia.
Joyce was born in Screven, Georgia and raised in South Georgia. She married and raised six children, moving from Georgia to Florida, and finally settling in Alabama. She recently moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter, for extended care and rehab. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, friends, and family. She had a relationship with the Lord and recently rededicated her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Buddy" Jacobs; a son, Michael Kane Jacobs; and her sister, Betty Jo Aspinwall.
She leaves behind four sons, Dene Jacobs (Cathy) of Montevallo, Alabama, John Jacobs (Dana) of Pelham, Alabama, Tim Jacobs (Tanya) of Nauvoo, Alabama, and Tanyon Jacobs of Wilsonville, Alabama; a daughter, Danita Jacobs Fee (Wesley) of Blythewood, South Carolina; grandchildren, Capt. Corey Jacobs, U.S. Army, Darien, Tristan and Chayse Jacobs, Katherine and Rebecca Fee, Amy Abts (Adam), April McClain (Phillip), Tiffany Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Coltin, Kinley, Kalen, Legend, Michael, and Jayce; two brothers, Joey Aspinwall (Nancy) of Holly Pond, Alabama, and Jerry Aspinwall (Molly) of Blackshear, Georgia; two sisters, Wanda Melton (Sheldon) of Hastings, Florida, Linda Thrift (Tom) of Hahira, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Midlands Rehab Center in Columbia for the care, love, support and friendship to their mother.
A memorial service for Mrs. Jacobs will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Laura Chapel Baptist Church, Patterson, Georgia with private inurnment to follow. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
