Joyce Ann Jefferson, 78, of Elgin, died Friday, January 10, 2014. Born in Bristol, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late James and Earlene Denton Griffin. Mrs. Jefferson worked for many years at York Tape and Label, and she often enjoyed dancing, especially with friends at the VFW Post 641 in Columbia.

Survivors include her husband, Leamond D. Jefferson; sons, Jackie Kenneth Ball (Maria), and Joel Douglas Ball (Rachelle); daughter, Kathy Jane Denning (Tony); grandchildren, Kenneth Travis Ball, Russell Carter, Nikki Yates, Tim Branham, Chaz Young, and Joseph Nicholas Benton; great-grandchildren, Dillon Carter and Hunter Nichols; brother, James Griffin; as well as several cousins. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Vaughn and Dayrl Pierce.

The funeral service for Mrs. Jefferson will be held 1 o'clock, Monday, January 13th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with Pastor Charlie Young officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock.
