Joyce Malinda Pate Blair, 77, of Columbia, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Born July 25, 1935 in Winnsboro, SC, she was a daughter of the late Danny and Elna Canady Pate. A graduate of Mt. Zion High School in Winnsboro, Mrs. Blair retired from AAFES on Fort Jackson. She was a member of Bayview Baptist Church. She was an active member of her neighborhood prayer group, enjoyed cooking, shopping and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce loved old country music and was a longtime fan of the USC Gamecocks.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Blair; daughter, Gayle Gunter (Lynwood); sons, Larry Crowe (Rhonda), Barry Crowe (Kelli), Scott Blair (Cynthia); grandchildren, Christina Crowe, Darren Crosland, Lee Pitt, Malinda Hafner, Durham and Emily Grace Blair; and great granddaughter, Reagen Crosland. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Pate.

The funeral service for Mrs. Blair will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, June 1st, at the graveside of Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with The Rev. Richard B. Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Friday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
