Ms. Judy Ann Clayton, 67. of Elgin, SC, died Thursday, August 1, 2024. Born in Kansas City, MO, on June 26, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Hazel Cooper Nickerson and Donald Lee Clayton.

Judy graduated Spring Valley High School in 1976 and worked at the SCDMV in Columbia and Camden for many years. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved traveling and often allowed the flip of a coin to decide her destination. She enjoyed spending time with her family at the beach and looking for shark teeth. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and nana who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Walters (Ray); grandchildren, Caitlin Wallace (Bryce) and Caleb Walters; sisters, Dana Chandler and Donna Stanfield (Ed); step-brother, Dickie Briggs (Julie); step-father, Hank Nickerson; lifelong friends, Kathy Johnson and Judy Walker; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Sadie Clayton.

The family will receive guests on Friday, August 9th, from 5 until 7 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A private family service will be held at a later date.
