Obituary

June Roberts Bell, 83, of Columbia, died on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, BWI, on June 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William George Stewart Roberts and Ada Beatrice nee Sanftleben Roberts.

She received her early Oxford-styled education while boarding at St. Hilda's Diocesan High School in Jamaica and later became a graduate of Florida State University where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta Sister, Mrs. Bell spent her career serving in our public school system receiving multiple distinctions and awards for her dedicated work, retiring as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Richland School District Two. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at the time of her death. Philanthropies and passions included the American Red Cross, National Geographic, Palmetto Forum, Riverbanks Zoo, South Carolina Philharmonic, South Carolina State Museum, and the ministries of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

Mrs. Bell was faithful, loving, determined, and devoted to all she met and treated, people with kindness, dignity and respect. Her greatest love and joy were her children and grandchildren. She provided beautiful, selfless care and instilled values in words and actions. Mrs. Bell taught that experiences were always more valuable and meaningful than possessions.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Robert Bell, Michael Frederick Bell, and Randall Alexander Bell (Annette Davidson); grandchildren, Declan Frederick Bell, Duncan Aubrey Bell, Aislinn June Bell; sister, Mary Elizabeth Adams; nieces and nephews, Dayna Elizabeth Brock, Brenda Ann Lanaris, Viki Lynn Conrad, Debra Kay Dailidonis, James Graham Munnis, and Michael Charles Munnis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Kellogg Bell; brother-in-law, William John Adams; and sister-in-law, Ruth Gannon.

The service for Mrs. Bell will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, November 10th, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia. A reception with the family will be held following the service at the Cathedral. A private burial will follow the reception. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
