June Roof Rhodes, 87, of Elgin, died on Friday, June 24, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, on June 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late F.O. Roof and Maggie Newmann Roof. Mrs. Rhodes loved life and her family. She was a longtime member of Jackson Creek Baptist Church and spent her career as a Driver's License Examiner with the South Carolina Highway Department. Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending time at the beach, anything Clemson, and daily "Happy Hour" at Lizard's Thicket from 10 until about 12 every day, where she shared many cups of coffee, laughs and memories with everyone.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela "Pam" R. Barton, and her husband, Tom, of New Bern, NC; step-son, W.H "Dusty" Rhodes, Jr., and his wife, Kellie, of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Heather Barton, of Long Beach, CA and Tab Barton, Jr., of Atlantic Beach, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold "Bill" Rhodes.

The family would like to sincerely acknowledge their appreciation to Linda Trobaugh for her care, concern and unwavering support to Mrs. Rhodes during these last several years as well as National Health Care of Parklane for their care.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rhodes will be held at 5 o'clock, Monday, June 27th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. A private burial will follow in Jackson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 until 5 o'clock, at the funeral home.
