Obituary

Karen Lois Cubbage Jackson, 59, of Columbia SC, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Born November 5, 1955 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Capers Wiles and June Lois Bland Wiles Cubbage; and her late adoptive father, Richardson C. Cubbage. Karen attended Eau Claire High School and was a member of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church. She worked with her mother in the family-owned wallpaper business "Happy Hangers", and later with Glenn Gentry in his painting business, before her early retirement. Karen most enjoyed spending time with her family and dog; as well as her hobbies which included creative writing, crafts and music.

Survivors include her son, Richard Joseph Jackson; brothers, Rick Cubbage and his wife, Robin, of Buford, GA, Ronnie Wiles of Columbia; and her sister, Connie Young of Columbia.In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her oldest son, Oppie Lee Jackson; as well as her former husband and father of her sons, Richard Jackson.

The memorial service for Ms. Jackson will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Memories and condolences may be shared at ShivesFuneralHome.com.
