On July 9, 2025, our beloved mother, Kathryn Benton Rivers, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord. She was a devoted follower of Christ, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. Kathryn shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God's plan.
Born January 22, 1927, in Timmonsville, SC, Kathryn Rivers was a daughter of the late Belton O'Neal Benton and Annie Boyd Benton, and she pursued a career with the SC Employment Security Commission and retired after 31 years of service. Kathryn returned to work full time at Jimmy Rivers Body and Paint Shop and worked until she was 93 years old.
On December 24, 1946, Kathryn married the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Rivers. They went on to have three children, Allen (Lynn), Margaret (Ken), and Paul (Wendy); and 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Kathryn was a member of Chapin Christian Community Church and was active in many church activities to include Bible study groups, Ladies circle, charity work, and her beloved Sunday School class and card playing group. She was an excellent Southern cook and known for her bake goods.
Kathryn joins her husband Jimmy, her parents, brother, Robert, sisters, Anna and Mildred, and grandson, Guy Spence, in Heaven. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hucks, and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
A celebration of Kathryn's life will be held at Chapin Christian Community Church on July 13, 2025, 3:00 pm, where we will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. Friends may visit with the family beginning one hour before the service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that all donations be made to Chapin Christian Community Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC, 29036, in loving memory of Mrs. Kathryn Benton Rivers.
The family would like to thank the Prisma Hospice team and Kathryn's precious caregivers, Eva, Geralyn, Debra and especially Anna Caldwell. We love you.
