Kenneth Franklin Brockington, 75, of West Columbia, died Saturday, May 15, 2021. Born January 8, 1946, in Sumter, SC, he was a son of the late Selvest Edward and Frances Marion Matthews Brockington.

Mr. Brockington was a graduate of The University of South Carolina and retired from the South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and white-water paddling. Mr. Brockington received his South Carolina Master Gardener designation from the Clemson Extension Cooperative. He loved to work in his yard and was a former volunteer at Riverbanks Botanical Garden. Mr. Brockington was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he participated with the church usher's guild.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine N. Blume; sons, Kenneth Michael Brockington (Christy) and Mark David Brockington (Tracy); grandchildren, Michelle Leigh Navarro, Ian Brockington, and Jacob Brockington; great grandchildren, Matthew Brockington, Mavis Navarro, Owen Puls, Steven Brockington, and Emma Brockington; as well as his siblings, Bill Brockington and Donna Sue Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Thomas Brockington.

The memorial service for Mr. Brockington will be held 2 o'clock Friday, May 21st at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David H. Lauten officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Jackson Hall. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

All are welcome to attend, however, in view of the COVID-19 virus, the family requests that those who attend be considerate of the health of others.
