Kenneth Ronald Jaco, 83, of Irmo, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. Born June 18, 1933, to the late Jesse and Lucile Neely Jaco. He was schooled in Columbia, served two years in the National Guard, 51st M.P. division, served nine years for Local Union #104, served 32 years working in industry as a Special Layout Man, Supervisor, and Quality Control before being self-employed for 12 years. Mr. Jaco joined the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge #344 in 1962, where he served as Master three times and was chaplain. He later joined the Shriners in 1969 and was a charter member of Jamil Temple. A past Master unit was formed and he was a charter member on the first degree work at Masonic lodges to recovery for crippled and burned children. He served as president of the Southeast Shriners Post Master's Association, was a member of the Eastern Star Bethlehem Chapter #129, and served as patron in the 70's. Mr. Jaco was a member of Jerusalem Temple Past Masters Club, Southeastern Shrine Post Masters Association, Super Excellent Master Union Council No. 5, personal aide for Potentate Nelson Phillips, and Knights Temple Eye Foundation, Inc. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Elliot Jaco; sons, Ronnie Jaco (Kim) and Mike Jaco; grandchildren, Jason Jaco, Jennifer Snyder, Jared Jaco, Kayla Jaco; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Dalton, Zoe, Kaiden, Huntlee; granddogs, Daisy Duke and Tiny.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jaco is preceded in death by his son, Glenn Jaco and his brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, February 21st at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., with Rev. Gary Phillips officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Entombment will follow the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
