1st Sgt. Kenneth Dale White, US Army (Ret.), 82, of Elgin, died Sunday, May 8, 2016. Born August 12, 1933, in Arcadia, NE, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Thelma Moore White. He served in Korea and Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star as well as numerous other medals. His hobbies included watching NASCAR, as well as Gamecock and Cornhusker Football.
His is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sara Drennan White; sons, Steven and Kyle both of Columbia; sister, Joann White of CT; nine grandchildren; as well as numerous nephews and cousins; his favorite cousin, Janet Grosse-Rhode; and his dog, Buttons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Kerry, Michael, and Kevin; and a sister, Marion.
A private graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 75851, Topeka, KS 66675. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
