Kevin William King, 78, of Blythewood, SC, passed away on March 16. He was born on December 1, 1946, in Stanford, CT, and was predeceased by his parents, Kevin and Alice King.

After growing up in Connecticut, Kevin attended Iona University to play fullback on the varsity football team but later transferred to the University of Connecticut. Seeking warmer weather, Kevin and his high school sweetheart and new bride, Lyn, moved to Knoxville to further their studies at the University of Tennessee. He earned a doctorate in Psychology and a love for Tennessee sports. Together, Lyn and Kevin decided to make Columbia home with Kevin working for the University of South Carolina and then Vocational Rehabilitation of South Carolina all while maintaining his successful private practice in downtown Columbia.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Lyn, two sons, Sean (wife, Adair) and Brian (wife, Elizabeth), and three adoring grandchildren, Mac, Alex, and Julia. Kevin is also survived by his sister, Sharon (husband, Bobby), of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and their children and grandchildren.

Kevin loved the outdoors and could often be found enjoying a beautiful day on the water or in the woods of the family property Hard Way Farm, often with his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling the world, especially to his wife's home country, Australia, and cherished time spent on family trips. He enjoyed the rivalry between his beloved UConn Huskies and Tennessee Vols when they played his son's and daughters-in-law's alma mater, the University of South Carolina. Most of the time, you could find him taking care of his immaculate yard or tinkering in his garage.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
