Kraig B Simmons of Prattville, AL died Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the age of 66. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, in South Carolina. Born in Port Hueneme, CA to Carrol and Barbarann Simmons. Kraig retired from the US Army after twenty years of dedicated service to his country. He earned a National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, and he was a Vietnam war Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda Jones Simmons, a sons Chad Simmons of Gilbert, AZ, Bill Watts (Theresa) of Freeport, FL, daughters Jamie Simmons-Lorance of Gilbert, AZ, Marcie Barfield (Gary) of Lexington, SC and Ann Shaner (Michael McCord) of Deatsville, AL, brother, Keith Simmons, of Manasses, VA, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Kraig was a talented artist that could draw beautiful pencil illustrations. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and engaging in political banter. Many thanks to Interim Healthcare Hospice of upstate SC and Hospice of Montgomery, AL.
The memorial gathering for Mr. Simmons will be held at 2 o'clock, Friday, April 14th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
