Landon W. "Bill" "Duke" Ard, Sr., 91, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 15, 2018. Born on April 3, 1927, in Manning, SC, he was a son of the late Thomas B. and Carrie Nesbitt Ard. Bill had a strong work ethic, working seven days a week for most of his life. In his free time, he enjoyed doing yardwork and keeping his lawn looking pristine. He was certified in four trades, glass, carpentry, insulation and sheet metal. Bill always enjoyed being at the flea market with the many people he met throughout the years.

Survivors include his grandson, Christian Ard; granddaughter, Leigh Wingard (Billy Ray); great-grandchildren, Lauren, Hunter, Daniel and Brittany; his former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Audrey Kaminer; as well as special nurses, Jon Child and Nathan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ida "Bea" Williams Ard; son, Landon "Billy" Ard, Jr.; an infant son, Charles Ard; one brother; and three sisters.

The funeral service for Mr. Ard will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, July 18th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia with the Rev. Henry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock.
