Larry Allen Baker, 76, of Columbia, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023. Born July 15, 1947, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Howard Arthur Baker and Eva Roberta Shealy.

Larry will always be remembered for his service to others. His heart of sacrifice touched the lives of many who found themselves in need of a "helping hand." His love for NASCAR helped fuel his career as an automotive mechanic. His calm and cool demeanor made him approachable, and Larry never met a stranger.

Larry saw value in everything and loved adding to his expansive collection. After retirement, you could always find him playing solitaire or sitting with a crossword puzzle on his lap.

Larry is predeceased by his parents and his daughter Lynn Baker. He is survived by his partner of over 30 years, Rhoda Western; sons, Allen Baker (Lynelle) and Bobby Western (Melissa); grandchildren, Jake Baker, Justin Baker, Trevor Western; and many loving extended family members.

The funeral service for Mr. Baker will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Extension, Columbia, SC. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. The committal service will follow the service at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC.
