Larry Lee Massey, 73, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. Born on October 24, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Leander Massey and Ada May Atkins.

Larry is a graduate of Dentsville High School. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he gained experience in air traffic control. Larry was awarded the Bronze Medal and Silver Star for his bravery and heroic service while in the Army. In his spare time, Larry could be found enjoying the great outdoors while hunting and fishing or crafting a mosaic of stained glass. Family and friends will always remember his quiet and caring personality.

Survivors include his brother, Ken Massey (Margret); nieces and nephews, Scott Greenway (Ivy), Adrienne Massey, Bernie Raley, Chris Voysey; great nieces and nephews, Amberly Wampler, and David Massey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Greenway.

A graveside service for Mr. Massey will be held at 2 o'clock, on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
