Larry Dean Munnerlyn

Mr. Larry Dean Munnerlyn, age 81, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in service, hard work, and a deep, abiding love for his family. Born on October 8, 1944, in Vidalia, Georgia, he was a son of the late Lawrence Munnerlyn and Virginia Hodges. Larry passed away just days before his 82nd birthday. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army before building a life centered around the people and activities he loved most. A devoted Christian of the Pentecostal Holiness faith who loved the Lord and was saved, his deep faith guided his path and anchored his life.

Larry shared a devoted 25-year marriage with his wife, Melissa. He was a man who found immense joy in life’s simpler pleasures, a constant viewer of the news, and an avid fan of NASCAR. He often shared fond memories of fishing with his brother, Lonnie, and playing golf with his son, Jeff. Later in life, nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than visits with his children and grandchildren, and he absolutely cherished every moment spent with those new little great-grandbabies.

Larry's memory will be cherished by his wife, Melissa; his children, Jeff (Alyce) Munnerlyn and Tina (Ricky) Jones; his grandchildren, Bailee Munnerlyn, Brittany (Josh) Berry, Katlyn (Drew) Wilson, and Keelan Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Everett, Ellington, Henry, Carter Grace, and Garrett. He also leaves behind his brother, Lonnie (Natalie) Munnerlyn; his sisters, Laura and Linda; and his first wife, Frances Munnerlyn. He rejoins in eternity his parents and his sisters, Lisa and Lana.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel.
