Lt. Col. Larry Filmore Windham SCNAG (RET), 70, of Irmo, died peacefully Friday, January 31, 2014. Born in Columbia on July 4, 1943, he was a son of the late William Clifton Windham and Coralie Smith Windham. Larry was a 1961 graduate of Eau Claire High School, attended the University of South Carolina, and was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. He coached little league baseball at Seven Oaks Recreation Center for many years. Larry retired after 36 years of faithful service from the SC Air National Guard, McEntire Air Base. Upon his retirement from the National Guard, he was a courier for First Community bank for 13 years.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Rabon Windham; son, Todd (Kim) Windham of Columbia; brother, Frank (Emily) Windham of Irmo; sister, Deborah "Deb" (Marion) Williams of Lugoff; grandsons, Reed and Henry.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, February 5th at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Barry Gray officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 o'clock. Burial with full military honors will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
