Obituary

Laura Margaret Collins, 81, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Born in Troy, NY, on September 5, 1939, she was a daughter of the late John and Caroline Grace Taylor. She was a snake handler with the traveling Circus S before moving to Columbia in the early 1960's. She enjoyed volunteering for the Title One Advisory Council of Education in Richland County. Laura spent her life being a large advocate for education.

Survivors include her sons, Anthony John Booth (Sheila) and Joseph Booth; daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Booth Davidson, and Terrie Medlin; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Collins; and a granddaughter, Trinity Booth.

The graveside service for Mrs. Collins will be held 2:30 o'clock, Friday, December 18th, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., from 1 until 2 o'clock. Mask and social distancing are required.
