A memorial service for Laura Mae Falk, 100, formerly of Allentown, PA, and currently of Columbia, will be held at 10 o'clock, Tuesday, June 10th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, with her son-in-law, Deacon Ron Anderson officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Allentown, PA at a later date. Memorials may be made to Phoebe Devitt Homes, 1925 Turner St, Allentown, PA 18104.

Mrs. Falk died June 4, 2014. Born June 21, 1913 in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Peters Plarr. Laura worked for the telephone company prior to her marriage, then was a homemaker until 1966 when she worked at Blue Cross for 10 years. She enjoyed taking sightseeing trips and visiting family. Laura was an accomplished seamstress. Her hobbies included needlepoint, knitting, reading and baking delicious lemon meringue pies.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan E. (Ronald J.) Anderson of Elgin; granddaughter, Julie N. Anderson, MD of Columbia; grandson, Ronald J. (Joyce) Anderson, Jr. of Elgin; great-granddaughters, Mary Grace, Molly Elizabeth, Sophie Mae Anderson; great-grandsons, Andy (Ronald J. III) and Joseph James Anderson.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Falk was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lewis Falk; brothers, John Plarr and Albert Plarr, Sr.; and sisters, Edna Calkins and Dorothy Bingell.

The family is very grateful for the nursing staff of 9 East, Palmetto Health Richland, and Palmetto Health Hospice for providing loving care and compassion during Nana's last days.
